What is Mold?

Mold is a fungus that grows on foods, plants and even in or on the walls and floors of your home.  Mold needs to have moisture and a good food source to grow.  Damp and wet surfaces are the perfect growth medium for mold.  Homes with low airflow and dim lighting can also harbor mold spores that can be carried throughout your home.

Mold Detection

If mold is found in your home, the first step is to leave it alone.  This way you make sure the spores do not spread through your home. Just a postage stamp size of mold can contain up to 65 million spores.  Disturbing mold can release the spores into the air which can have toxic effects on your health. One of the health problems that comes along with mold is allergy related and therefore is difficult to diagnose.  Some common symptoms of mold exposure are: Itchy eyes, runny nose, scratchy throats, sneezing, wheezing and coughing.

At Northern Los Angeles we use the latest in mold detection technology to determine your property’s overall mold damage and provide the best solution to eradicate mold damage in your home and keep it out.

Let’s Talk About…

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a heat-resistant fiber silicate mineral that can be woven into fire-resistant materials for use in construction projects and industries related to fire proofing.  For many years, building contractors have used asbestos fibers to insulate ceilings and walls.  Inhaling these very small particles can damage and poison your lungs.  These particles are so small they can remain in the air you are breathing for hours, or even days.  Asbestos left alone is non-toxic however, it is very easy to disturb.

Asbestos poisoning may take several years to notice any signs or symptoms.  Symptoms of asbestos poisoning are: Dry Cough, Shortness of Breath, Chest Pain, Tightness in Chest, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD).  Other health issues that could be attributed to asbestos poisoning: Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, Asbestosis (hardening of the lungs), Pulmonary Hypertension, Damage to immune and digestive system
